Ginger's story
GINGER is a 7-month-old spayed female chocolate lab. Ginger weighs 32 pounds and is up to date on shots. This dog is approved for homes with children ages 10 and up.
DESCRIPTION Ginger is part of a litter of 5 older puppies. This super cute crew of puppies will melt your heart the minute you meet them. They are the perfect blend of curious yet cautious, sweet yet shy, and off the charts adorable. It doesn't seem like these pups have received much love, attention, or direction so far, and some are very timid and nervous about meeting new people. They are looking for a home with patient humans and experienced dogs that will welcome them and teach them the basic skills that every lab needs to know. They were an owner surrender because the owner could no longer afford to feed them
Update: Ginger is still a painfully nervous little girl, but she's making progress. She's starting to bond with the other dogs a bit; this took awhile after her littler mate Gina went to a new foster. Ginger's preferred location is on the human bed so we close her out of there most of the time so she can be nudged out of her comfort zone a bit ... if we're watching TV she will end up either in front of the couch, or, on special nights, on the couch, between a dog and a human. When the alarm goes off in the morning she is playful and waggy until we get out of bed and become tall scary giants again. But she will come up on the bed and almost cuddle, so ... again, progress. She got her boosters at the vet and was so brave. I had to carry her to the car and into the vet, but after her visit she walked out on leash, sat on the bench with me while I waited for a printout, walked to the car on leash and jumped in with minimal encouragement. In our world that is a huge day! She is so sweet and just needs a lot of time. She eats well, is totally house trained and has gotten to where she loves her crate. This sweet girl will continue to blossom with love and patience!
